Troubleshooting
Extension isn’t showing in Basecamp
- Make sure the extension is installed and enabled in
chrome://extensions. - Confirm you’re on Basecamp 3 (URL starts with
https://3.basecamp.com). Assistant doesn’t work on Basecamp 2 or 4. - Reload the Basecamp tab (Cmd/Ctrl + R).
- If it still doesn’t appear, pin the Assistant icon to your toolbar and click it to see any error messages.
Kanban tab is missing
The Kanban tab only renders on Basecamp accounts that have been connected to Assistant. If you see “Not connected”:
- If you’re a Basecamp admin: click Connect Assistant in the Kanban tab to authorize the account.
- If you’re a member: ask your Basecamp admin to connect the account first. You can then request a seat.
”Request access” but no response
Your request goes to the Basecamp admin who connected the account. If nothing happens:
- Confirm with your admin that they received the request (it appears on their Settings → Seats page).
- As a fallback, the admin can invite you directly by email from the same page.
Settings tabs are hidden
The Custom Fields, Automations, and Integrations tabs are admin-only. If you’re not a Basecamp admin on the account, these are hidden by design. Ask an admin to make the changes, or have them grant you admin on Basecamp first.
Voice notes won’t record
- Grant Chrome microphone permission for
3.basecamp.com. - Make sure no other tab is using the microphone.
- On macOS, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone — Chrome must be allowed.
Signed out unexpectedly
